After the Party

It’s been a busy week at school (for Doc) and dealing with the aftermath of the JOY hurricane which blew through the Penny Palace last week.

This evening I poured a glass of wine (from one of the many bottles which appeared here) and Doc and I proceeded to open the gifts.  There were some gifts to be enjoyed now (chocolate macadamian nuts, flowers, plants, jelly, etc.).  There were some gifts to be appreciated at a later date (Gift Certificates for restaurants, Target, BB&B).   Several of the gifts were customized and hold special meaning.  There were towels embroidered with “The Penny Palace”, a check to ‘sponsor’ the front door Windows from Heaven and a framed Original Artwork by Ampersand Chaz with a quote from Abraham Lincoln.

People have said, “You are moved in and the Celebrations are over; now slow down. Relax!”  This evening I tried sitting on the sofa and watching a movie.  You talk about stressful?   Sitting in one spot looking at a talking picture frame; THAT is stressful.  Where is the value in that?

As much as I tried to refrain from searching, there were two pennies in my path at breakfast this morning and one at the post office.  Doc came home from school three nights this week with coin finds.

Celebrations

For five days I have not left the Penny Palace and thus, no Penny Finding. Saturday and Sunday October 13th and 14th were two days of Celebrations.  Dozens and dozens of people visited and added their JOY to the home.  I spent the three subsequent days dealing with the aftermath of the Celebrations.  There was the rental equipment company to work with, trash to haul, nine loads of laundry, housecleaning, emails from people who did attend and messages from those who could not.  There were bills to pay, rental property work to catch up with, the sale of the Pomona house to work on and other things.  There are still gifts to unwrap and thank you notes to write.

It is fitting that the 1,393 Days of Consecutive Penny Finding end with such a Grand Finale!

What a special journey over the past few years.  What was just a bare piece of land is now a special symbol of "COINcidences".
